Whether it was when they were known as S Club or S Club 7, this group packed a heavy punch of teen pop during the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Assembled by music mogul Simon Fuller, this group of British teens broke the boy band mold, sporting both male and female members. The makeup may have been different, but the blueprint was not. The group produced some of the most popular bubblegum pop of their time during their reign as teen royalty.
The group was introduced to the public via a BBC television show that helped propel their debut single, "Bring It All Back," to the number one spot on the UK charts. The single paved the way for their self-titled debut album to become a major hit. Less than one year later, S Club returned as S Club 7 with their follow-up, 7. The album has a little less bounce to it, trading that feel in for a more ballad-driven sound. The group's unrelenting innocence made it a hit with young listeners and the group served as an act that pleased the parents of fans as well. Traces of Britney Spears and *NSYNC could be found throughout the record, though the vocal quality was not quite on par with teen pop's biggest stars.
The group's success continued on their next couple of releases, but the band saw their popularity plunge with the release of the disappointing Seeing Double. The album did not experience the instant success of its predecessors and put the wheels of demise on motion for the group. In 2003, S Club 7 announced their impending breakup. During their four-year period of chart dominance, the group produced four multi-platinum albums that spawned 10 top five singles in the UK. As with many of their kind, S Club 7's success came quickly, but left just as fast.
