Lucky for music fans, Seventh Day Slumber frontman Joseph Rojas found religion after a cocaine overdose left him lucky to be alive in the early 1990s. After nearly escaping poverty on a $400-a-day cocaine habit, Rojas sat in an ambulance with pending criminal charges looming and knew he was alive for a reason after an attempted suicide by overdose failed. The reformed addict and now-religious zealot formed Seventh Day Slumber with guitarist Evan Weatherford, bassist Joshua Schwartz and drummer Adam Witte in 1996. The Dallas natives signed their alternative Christian outfit to the Afinia label and released their debut, Matthew Twenty-Five in 1999. EP Freedom from Human Regulations on label Mercy Street followed in 2001 and two years later the band made another label switch (to Word Entertainment) for the release of the successful Picking Up the Pieces, which contained radio hits like "Innocence" and "I Know."

Now with Bec Recordings, Seventh Day Slumber released acclaimed album Once Upon a Shattered Life, which continued its goal to transform the Christian youth with singles like the popular "Caroline." Seventh Day Slumber continued to release albums on rapid fire, from 2007's Finally Awake to 2008's Rescatame with label CJM. Like many other Christian bands, Seventh Day Slumber use their music as a vehicle to get their anti-media message across, but this band puts across music that it is not just for the Christian audience, as their sound encompasses heavy metal and rock. Seventh Day Slumber's devotion to saving youths in danger of drug addiction or other issues has propelled them to tour nearly 200 dates per year and the band shows no sign of slowing their pace.
