Shane & Shane are two of the freshest faces to emerge on the Contemporary Christian Music scene in recent years, thanks to their brand of alternative folk songs coupled with worship lyrics. They have been compared to the genre's first stars, Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith, but Shane & Shane are a modern Christian band whose harmonies and acoustic rock music infused with country sounds is all their own.

Shane Barnard and Shane Everett formed the Contemporary Christian Music duo Shane & Shane after the pair met while they were both attending Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. While Lubbock native Barnard had been attending (and eventually leading) student prayer groups since middle school, Everett was a fairly new Christian convert who had just begun attending Barnard's on-campus Christian fellowship group when they met. Barnard had already gotten his feet wet in the Christian music pool by self-releasing the 1997 album, Salvation Still Remains, with another Texas A&M student Caleb Carruth, and launched a solo career with Everett on harmony vocals after his first duo's (amicable) split. The two resulting albums, 1998's Rocks Won't Cry and 2001's Psalms, were released solely under Barnard's name and 2001's Window to the Inner Court was accredited to Everett. The pair officially renamed themselves Shane & Shane for the 2002 rerelease of Psalms.

Contemporary Christian Music duo Shane & Shane released three consecutive albums in 2003, 2004 and 2005: Carry Away, Upstairs and Clean. Then, in 2005, Shane & Shane issued a live CD and DVD package titled An Evening with Shane and Shane. After a two-year hiatus, Shane & Shane returned to the contemporary Christian music scene with 2007's Pages and a holiday album, Glory in the Highest-A Christmas Record, came in 2008.
