Steve Cole has a keen sense of musical tastes, whether they are the old-classic sounds of R&B or the more modern notes of smooth jazz. With his background in R&B and blues, Cole has emerged as one of the top saxophone players in the music world today. Instead of taking the road well traveled, Cole chose to be adventurous, mixing the tunes of the bellowing horn with the unmistakable soulful feel of jazz and blues music. What has resulted is a remarkable culmination of music genres, surpassing everybody's expectations and emerging as a sound that is appreciated by fans of all different generations.

Steve Cole was born in Chicago, where the influence of rhythm and blues had a profound impact on him. Although Cole graduated from The University of Chicago with an MBA in economics, he ultimately returned to playing jazz music on his saxophone. After making the rounds to crowded clubs and bars around the Chicago area, Cole set his sights on releasing a studio album. Stay Awhile was released in 2000, and it won him the prestigious Prism Award for Best New Artist at the Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards. For Cole, it was a big step in the right direction, and it set the stage for his future successes in the industry. The following year, he hit the charts with the classic jazzy song, "Just the Two of Us," which was featured on the star-studded tribute album called To Grover, With Love.

Steve Cole's second album, Between Us, garnered him a number one hit with the popular song, "Got It Goin' On." With his mixture of jazz and blues with a decidedly modern twist, Cole has tapped into a new category of listeners who can appreciate classic and contemporary sharing the space in songs. Cole has also released Spin and TRUE. TRUE has been considered by some to be his most eclectic, assembling a group of musicians that further accentuate the creative genius of Chicago native Cole.
