Ten Shekel Shirt is a Christian worship rock group that was started by British Columbia born Lamont Hiebert. They released their first album Much, on April 3, 2001. The album was a modern worship album of praise to God. Lamont started his charitable work as he began to create his second album along with original band members Austin Morrison and Tommy Lee. While recording his second album Risk, released on September 2, 2003, Lamont was involved in a trip to Southeast Asia as a part of a group that infiltrated and investigated brothels where children from the age of nine years old were being exploited. He was inspired to become the co-founder of the organization Love 146, which was formerly known as Justice for Children International. The organization exists in order to end child exploitation in Southeast Asia and around the world. The trip altered Lamont's life and turned his career around.
Risk showed an increased musical intensity, inspired by what he had witnessed in his trip to Asia, and a firmer focus for the subject matter for his musical career. The album peaked out at number 22 on Top Christian Albums, showing that he was improving exponentially. He took a break from Ten Shekel Shirt following the release of Risk in order to get Love 146 up and running and to focus his time on the work that he had become incredibly passionate about.
When he had gotten Love 146 up and running, Lamont Hiebert felt, once again, compelled to make music inspired by what he had witnessed. He reformed Ten Shekel Shirt enlisting Jonny Rodgers as his lead guitarist, bassist Brent Milligan, keyboardist Ben Shive, drummer Christian Elliot and Jeremy Lutito for his third album, Jubilee. Jubilee was released on August 19, 2008, and proved to be his most poignant addition so far.
