This lively, freewheelin' indie rock band from England is comprised of members Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Max Rafferty and Paul Garred. They are particularly known for their brand of garage rock that has truly shaken up the industry and given The Kooks their place in the world's spotlight. The band members all met while they were attending Brighton Music College in the mid-2000s and discovered that they all shared the same musical tastes. They were big fans of The Police, the Strokes and the Everly Brothers and would later draw on their idols to form their own music.

The Kooks started releasing singles towards the end of 2005 and mesmerized people with their songs "Eddie's Gun," "Sofa Song" and "You Don't Love Me." The latter became the band's first Top 20 hit and encouraged the members that they might be onto something special with their wistful and sentimental sound. They released their debut full-length album, called Inside In/Inside Out, in January 2006. Critics hailed the record as featuring music that sounded like a well-weathered band already confident and secure in their career. Two other songs that became well-known hits from the album included "Jackie Big Tits" and "Ooh La."

The Kooks made their first official American performance at the annual South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas in March 2006, and the record landed on U.S. shelves shortly afterwards. In 2008, The Kooks appeared again with their second full-length album, this one called Konk. They succeeded greatly and proved that they could make music that was more than just lively as it was also electrifying. Songs that stand out include "Always Where I Need to Be," "Love It All" and "Shine On."
