Canadian Christian group Thousand Foot Krutch hails Peterborough, which is close to Toronto. The band started off in 1997 with Trevor McNevan, who originally wanted to be a rap artist. When that dream did not pan out, McNevan took some time off to work on his sound. The band was reformed later and features McNevan's childhood friend Joel Bruyere on bass and guitar and drummer Steve Augustine. They are devoted to giving an honest presentation of their faith.

Their career as a group took off in 2001 with the album Set It Off, which has caused them to be described as one of the leaders of the hardcore realm. The band has a fluid and diverse musical ability, having produced albums with hard rock/heavy metal, rock and hip-hop. Set It Off has some excellent rap moments in it, and they have acheived what few Christian bands have succeeded in, which is popularity outside of Christian music.

For a band with such a diverse sound, they have been incredibly successful. Their second album, Phenomenon (2003), earned them world-wide renown as one of the premier emerging CCM nu-metal groups. The group does something that is somewhat unique among Christian bands by keeping the spiritual and preachy out of their lyrics and simply living out their faith. Their third album, The Art of Breaking (2005), is a rap-rock album where the group presents themselves as sort of righteous warriors rather than self-righteous ranters.

Their most recent album, The Flame In All Of US, was released in 2007 and is the group's best album to date. The lyrics are crisp the music shows an amazing amount of maturity. More personal investment in the music and an increased musical talent leaves fans looking forward to TFK's next album. All in all, their sound has evolved and progressed, increasing the anticipation with each album.
