Dripping with sexuality and encompassing the raspy but powerful voice to back up her electrifying image, the stunning Tina Turner once emerged from the depths of Tennessee only to make it into America's hall of fame as the greatest female soul singer in the history of music. Turner rocked out as one half of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before jet-setting the world with a hectically successful solo career, and her household name will not be forgotten as her timelessness wears on.

Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock) started singing in her youth, and at age 18 scored the fateful slot as a backup singer for Ike Turner's touring show. Eventually becoming the star of the show, Tina eventually married Ike and the two had an incredible winning streak with hit songs like "A Fool in Love" and "Proud Mary" before divorcing in the mid-1970s. Continuing on with a bright solo career, Tina Turner crossed over into film with her performance as the Acid Queen in the Who's Tommy in 1975, thereafter producing a number of albums throughout the ‘70s, most of them flops. Before her reign in the R&B realm could dry out, however, Turner made the most phenomenal comeback of all time, returning in 1983 with a remake of the Temptations song "Ball of Confusion." Proving herself worthy, the soul icon scored a recording contract with Capitol, releasing a cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" in 1984, followed by arguably her biggest hit of all time, "What's Love Got to Do With It." The song easily reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, winning two Grammy Awards along the way. 1984's Private Dancer also went to the number one slot, and she continued with this fame until eventually starting to slow down in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, though she did make a comeback in 2007, winning a Grammy Award for her contribution to Herbie Hancock's River- The Joni Letters.
