While most rappers like to brag about their ability to put down fast beats, it is only Twista who has the documents to back that up. He went down in history for becoming the world's fasted rapper according to the Guinness Book of Records. Twista, AKA Carl Terrell Mitchell, was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1973 and raised in the famous K-Town section of the west side of the city. Before he was even a teenager, Twista was already rapping. He didn't find success in the industry right away, however, and took a string of add jobs to support himself before hitting the big time.
He kept pushing his music career further and soon got a deal with the new Loud Records. At that time he was called Tung Twista and he released Running off at da Mouth, which is what helped him get into the record books. The album, however, didn't go as well as Twista hoped. He pushed on and released more material despite the cool reception. In 1996, he released the track "Po' Pimp" with Do or Die. The single secured Twista a record deal with Atlantic. He released his debut on that label in 1997, Adrenaline Rush. The album made it onto the charts and announced Twista's presence to the industry.
Twista released Monstability in 1998, followed by Legit Ballin in 1999. He slowed his pace to work on his next album. He also worked with artists like Ludacris and Jay-Z on the album. When Kamikaze finally dropped in 2004, everyone recognized it was well worth the wait. The album shot to the top spot on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard 200 charts. He hit number one on two charts as well as number two on the Billboard 200 with his follow up release, The Day After. After that he released Adrenaline Rush 2007.
