Love them or hate them, Twiztid is undeniably controversial and unique. The rap duo is made up of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child, who both hail from Detroit, Michigan. With their white and black contrasting face makeup and obsession with dark subjects like serial killers, Twiztid is definitely not for the faint of heart. Before Twiztid came together, both members were in a band together called the House of Krazees. It was with that band that the duo became followers of the equally disturbing band called Insane Clown Posse. The House of Krazees started to dissolve as different members tried different routes, and Jamie Madrox and Monoxide Child formed a group together. They were soon being seen on tour dates with the Insane Clown Posse.
They soon had a deal with the same label as Insane Clown Posse, Psychopathic Records. They released the album Mostasteless in 1998, but it was only first released in their home area of the Midwest. After they gained a deeper fan base, the band re-released the album in 1999. Mostasteless reached number 149 on the Billboard 200 by that summer. Appropriately, their sophomore release, Freek Show, was released Halloween of 2000. The album pushed its way even further on the charts that its predecessor and was released the same time as one of Insane Clown Posse's albums.
The duo worked on other projects while also putting down tracks for their next album. Mirror Mirror hit shelves in 2002 and reached number five on the Top Independent Albums chart and also charted on the Billboard 200. They took only a year to release their next album, The Green Book, which was another chart success. They released Man's Myth and Mutant in 2005, which when combined was a two-volume collection. Twiztid dropped the album Independent's Day on July 4 of 2007.
