Wet Wet Wet was formed in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1982. The group is made up of four friends from school, Marti Pelow, born Mark McLaughlin, is the vocalist. Other members are Tommy Cunningham on the drums, Graeme Clark on the bass, and Neil Mitchell on the guitar. All of the members were born between 1964 and 1966. The group also included Graeme Duffin, as an unofficial member, as a session guitarist. They did incredibly well with their music, becoming one of the most stand-out UK bands of the ‘90s, but they also became leaders in on-stage performance, gaining a reputation as one of rock's best live acts.

The group broke into the industry with their debut single "Wishing I was Lucky" which gave the band immediate attention from the public, rising to number six on the UK charts. The song gave the group the recognition that they needed to make their debut album a big hit. Popped In Souled Out was released in 1987, and became a huge hit in Britain and made it across the pond, gaining a standing for itself in the US charts. The band was on their way to great things, and they were beginning to realize that there was a lot that they could do.

Their sophomore album, Holding Back the River, was another success in 1989. This second album marked a slight change in the band's sound, as they moved away from soul pop. Their hit single, from the album, was "Sweet Surrender." Following that they released High on the Happy Side, which hit charts in 1992. The album showed up the group making a good standing, and solidifying their place as some of the best British pop artists of the day. The bands best compilation, so far, has been End of Part One which was released in '93. Even though some of the group members left, the remaining few decided to keep the group going, and they are still going today.
