When in Rome was a group that formed in England in the 1980s. They had their roots in the band Beau Leisure, which hailed from Manchester. When Beau Leisure broke up the group split in two, with three members forming the band Swing Out Sister and three moving on to form When In Rome. When In Rome kept on playing from '84 until their hit single "The Promise" was released in 1988 with their eponymous debut album, after which they faded from the public eye. The song went on the feature in the hit movie Napoleon Dynamite which was released on August 27, 2004.

Napoleon Dynamite is about a teenager from Preston, Idaho, a new kind of high-school star and one of the most disliked boys in school. Living with his grandmother and as awkward as it is possible for a teenager to be, Napoleon is accompanied by his 30-year-old brother who lives at home. His Uncle Rico moves in with the two brothers while their grandmother is on the road with her quad runner. Napoleon makes friends with Pedro and the two try to cook up schemes to impress the girls at school and win Pedro the spot as student body president. The boys are ultimately triumphant when a recently developed skill propels Napoleon into the spotlight, and his campaigning for Pedro comes to a surprising and satisfactory conclusion.

When in Rome has not been making music since they vanished from the public eye in 1988, but the music from their debut album is still going strong. The group is definitely something to look up, as you will find gems of ‘80s rock music tucked away inside.
