In Jewel Quest, you must rearrange valuable relics to turn the sand tiles they lay on into gold. For this, you must form matches of three-in-a-row, vertically or horizontally, by swapping two adjacent relics. Once all tiles are turned to gold, the board is cleared and it’s on to the next puzzle. There are a total of 100 levels to solve and as you continue to explore the ancient ruins of a Mayan civilization while clearing the boards, you will encounter increasingly difficult puzzles and tiles that will provide special, familiar twists. You begin with five lives to clear as many levels as possible. Once exhausted, you will have to start again. Score is determined by how quickly you complete a puzzle as well as how many combo chains you can create. If you are stuck in a situation, hints will appear to help your progress along but remember, there is a countdown timer that will put some added pressure on you to clear the board quickly. The game retains its simple format and one-button controls. Simply click on a relic and drag it to where you want it placed with the pointer, no need to fuss with anything else. Relics maintain their unique illustrations and are detailed with bright, clear graphics. The audio is inviting though limited and a continue feature keeps your game saved. For those who enjoy a little competition, scores can be uploaded to a leader board as well. Jewel Quest is a terrific puzzle game that’s highly addictive. More importantly, you don’t need to sit in front of a computer monitor to enjoy it. It is long lasting and should be on your phone deck for a long time to come.
