Aaron Tippin broke onto the country music scene in the early ‘90s with the swaggering bravado and blue collar image that he still carries with him. Tippin first started to develop his voice as a young farm boy in Florida, where he would sings to pass the time while doing his chores. Music wasn't a career that he'd initially pursue though, as his primary interest as a young man was in becoming a pilot. His father had been a pilot before taking to farm living and Tippin received his pilot license before he could drive an automobile.Tippin was pushed toward music when a downtrend in the airplane industry soured his hopes of becoming a pilot. He held down odd jobs while trying to jumpstart his music career in Florida but was having trouble gaining recognition. A blessing in disguise came when he and his wife divorced, giving Tippin the freedom to up and move to Nashville in 1986. Four years later he'd land a record deal with RCA.Tippin's patriotic debut album You've Got to Stand for Something spawned a major hit with its title track in the wake of the Persian Gulf War. His sophomore effort, Read Between the Lines, produced three major hits and solidified Tippin as an artist that was here to stay. His next release, 1993's The Call of the Wild, is filled with rousing songs meant to invoke emotion and a fire within the listener. It wasn't until 2000 though that Tippin had an album crack the top five on the country charts. Thanks greatly to the smash single "Kiss This," People Like Us finally entered that uncharted territory.Tippin has released several records since then. Much of his music touches on national pride and a working-man's attitude. This Honky Tonk man has been getting listeners on their feet for nearly 20 years now and is as true of an American as you'll find.
