"Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, the group members of the band Aberdeen City have been striving to redefine the sounds of indie rock since their conception in 2001. Christopher McLaughlin takes the helm on the vocals and the guitar, Robert McCaffrey takes up the drums, Bradley Parker is in charge of vocals as well as the bass and J. Ryan Heller rounds out the group on the guitar. Together these guys offer a different taste for fans of alternative music. Their sound is often described by listeners as ""hypnotic,"" and the carefully orchestrated beats certainly do have a way of drawing people in. Once you hit the play button, it becomes increasingly hard to push the red ""stop"" button.Aberdeen City released their debut EP, We Learned by Watching, which helped to introduce the band's sonic sounds of modern rock. Some opening tracks include ""Protagonist"" and ""Empty Roof."" While critics noted that the album displayed a whole lot of ambition and an expertise in production, many of the songs seemed to be lacking in originality. However, judging from songs like ""Naysayer"" and ""Popular Music"" Aberdeen City succeeded in proving themselves as a band that would not go away quietly and in fact showed promise that they had a good base of songcraft to at least start with.In 2005, the band took on the big time when they released their first full-length album for the record label Dovecote. Called The Freezing Atlantic, it turned all previous critiques on the their heads and offered up some truly creative and magnificent songs. ""Another Seven Years"" is a tribute to the early work of U2 and ""God Is Going to Get Sick of Me"" gave insight into the real driving force behind Aberdeen City's own wound. By all accounts, Aberdeen City's debut album blew the competition out of the water and succeeded in establishing them as a rock solid indie band."
