Euro-pop dance performer Anastacia boogied into the music industry with the propelling forces of MTV, VH1, Salt-N-Pepa and Epic Records (to name a few,) and her energetic music and dance floor antics have provided Americans and Europeans alike with a soundtrack to their hectic lives for almost 10 years.Anastacia was born with music in her blood; the musician's father was a singer, while her mother performed on Broadway. There was no escaping the undeniable, and Anastacia eventually walked the line toward the entertainment industry, as well. Although she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was just 13 years old, Anastacia fought hard to overcome it, making appearances on Club MTV as well as Salt-N-Pepa's music videos to "Everybody Get Up" and "Twist and Shout." Keeping consistent to the MTV crowd, the dancer made it as a finalist in the MTV show The Cut, and exposure from the show led to a record contract with Epic Records. Anastacia released her debut album Not That Kind internationally in 2000; it hit the Heatseekers chart in 2001, and the title track also peeked in on the charts. Not That Kind had equal success in Europe and in the U.S., and the album led to Anastacia performing alongside Mary J. Blige, Cher and Shakira for VH1's Divas Live showcase in 2002.By 2002, Anastacia was clearly unstoppable. Her funk/soul/pop album Freak of Nature debuted in America in 2001, gaining the songstress even more worldly fame. The hit single "One Day in Your Life," off the '02 album Freak of Nature, crawled all the way to number one on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, also attracting attention on the Top 40. Anastacia hasn't stopped since; the singer released a self-titled album in 2004, followed by Pieces of a Dream- Best of in 2005. Plans are also in the makings for an album and a tour in 2008.
