Though her famous, ditzy Newlyweds sister may have helped to start the young Ashlee Simpson's music career, it's been her own vicious style that has raised her to stardom since those initial recordings. The Texas native proved at a young age that she liked doing things her own way. Admitted to the School of American Ballet at age 11, the youngest anyone had ever been admitted, she realized after a few years at the academy that ballet was not her true passion. She followed her family at 14 to California in order to pursue Jessica, her older sister's, dream of making it in Hollywood. Ashlee began dancing in the background of her sister during Jessica's tours. Soon after the move, Ashlee made guest appearances on a few shows, including Malcolm in the Middle, before landing a recurring role on the family sitcom Seventh Heaven. Still attempting to pursue her original love of music, her song "Just Let Me Cry," appeared on 2003's Freaky Friday soundtrack. Ashlee kept up her punk, often poppy sounding tunes when Geffen Records, impressed by her recordings, produced her debut album Autobiography in 2004. The album debuted at the number one spot on Billboard charts, selling over 398,000 copies. That same year she earned the title of Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards. Among other awards, the singer, actress and songwriter has won two Teen Choice Awards and has been on constant surveillance with the infamous paparazzi. Her second album, I Am Me, produced by John Shanks, had Ashlee promoting her albums with world tours. In London's West End production of Chicago, she received critical acclaim for her rendition of the character Roxie Hart. She was the youngest actress to ever play the character. Bittersweet World came in 2008 as her third album, with the single "Little Miss Obsessive" hitting airwaves nationwide. She recently married other punk rock artist, Fall Out Boy's bassist Pete Wentz and the couple announced that they are expecting their first child.
