Kenneth Edmonds (a.k.a. Babyface) was born in Indianapolis on April 10, 1959. Now know as the influential singer, producer and songwriter who helped to shape the sound of ‘90s R&B - Babyface has earned his place as one of the influential artists who set up pop for its cross-over into the 21st Century. He has released eight albums and stands as a remarkably versatile and solidly consistent hitmaker of the ‘90s. His music continues to be an influence today.Edmond's career in music started almost immediately upon finishing high school in 1977. He found a place as a guitarist for the group Manchild, which he stayed with for three albums. He then went on to perform at gigs with some of the Top 40 bands of the period before joining the group The Deele, a band that had significant success on the urban scene in the ‘80s. In '86 he recorded his first solo album, Lovers, which set him up for a serious solo career.Tender Lover was released in '89, giving him four hit singles and going platinum. He was now recognized as one of the emerging musical powerhouses of his time. He established himself as an artist who would influence the generations with his work, writing songs for artists like Johnny Gill, Whitney Houston, and Madonna. He was co-nominated for a Grammy for his production work on the soundtrack for The Body Guard.This century he has continued to be successful and influential, expanding his work to the political arena performing at concerts such as the Vote For Change concert tour in 2004. His most recent albums are Grown & Sexy which was released in July of 2005 and the 2007 album, Playlist. Whether performing in concert or being heard over the radio, Babyface has conquered every area of music.
