One of the most respected and enjoyed production teams of the ‘90s, Basement Jaxx was formed by Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton. Simon Ratcliffe was born in 1970 and grew up in Holland and Wales. They eventually recruited vocalist Corrina Josephs, for their second release, who became an honorary member of the team.Their sound is the result of an eclectic range of house and funk influences. Their sound, a mutated version of hip-hop, raggae, Latin, R&B, soul and garage, solidified their place in the worldwide house scene of the late ‘90s. The album made number 19 on Heatseakers and received three Brit award nominations for Best British Album, Best Dance Act, and Best British Single for their song "Red Alert. The duo has continued to be successful in the 21st Century.
