Sometimes God calls someone to a period of solitude in order to draw them into a greater faith. Bebo Norman went through just such a period, when his life was solitary and he lived on the road, traveling from concert to concert. He broke onto the music scene with his album The Fabric of Verse, which he released in 1996. As he sought peace, he realized the secret of music that so many Christian artist have found amazing, that it is an ultimately spiritual medium that can help people to feel their connection to God more intensely.Bebo's start as a performer came while studying biology at South Carolina College. During that time, he began to play at Young Life camps. He stopped after graduation, took a year off to try his hand at music and never looked back. His first CD, The Fabric of Verse, sold almost 50,000 copies.Bebo Norman is one of the truth-singers of the Christian world. His lyrics do not avoid the issue of salvation, and they always speak of Christ's great love for his people. He does not back away from the sometimes unpopular issues such as the need that God's people have for him. He instead chooses to express the fact that the God they believe in does not need them but chooses them anyway.Bebo Norman has brought some of the excellent sounds and has dealt with the great struggles of the Christian heart. He has not backed down from the fact that peace in God does not mean an easier life and sometimes brings pain. He also does not flinch in communicating the fact that while joy in Christ does come, it is often a long time in coming. He presents his work as a pledge of love to God, encouraging his fellow Christians to do so as well.
