Driven by progressive sounds and a lifetime of struggle, Bleubird has created a world that combines his skills as a rapper with the musical integrity of an older, rhythm and blues artist.Hailing from Montreal-by-way-of-Florida, Bleubird, born Jacques Bruna in southern Florida, soaked up old school hip-hop during secondary school, listening to the likes of 2 Live Crew, Public Enemy and Tuff Crew, before he began experimenting with several different genres. Bruna attended college in Orlando, Florida, and explored the early underground scene, hosting open mic nights as well as trying his hand with a few group collaborations. As family life became too much for this youngster, Bruna relocated to Canada and joined Canadian-based label Endemik Music. Scott Da Ros, owner of Endemik, took Bruna under his wing during the early stages of his career, serving as an important asset for Bleubird's debut album, Sloppy Doctor, which was released in 2003. Three years later he created the vinyl EP Pilgrim of St. Zotique and the full length album 1027816Rip U$a (The Birdfleu) a year later. As he developed his own sound, his visionary talents helped to start Les Swashbuckling Napoleons and Gunporn. He has appeared with other artists' work in the industry, like Zucchini Driver on their Easy Tigers EP, Scott Da Ros' One Kind of Dead End and Debmaster's Monster Zoo, to name a few. He has created several different solo albums and has continued to tour the world with his eccentric, progressive sound. The bird has traveled across the United States, Canada and Europe, with hopes for Australia and Japan in the future. He remains in control of his career, continuing to challenge the mold that so many artists before him have hoped to expand. Bleubird's wings have stretched so much in the few years that he has been in the business that it is no wonder he has gained such worldwide acclaim.
