Bowling for Soup Biography
Punk power pop group, Bowling for Soup, from Wichita, Texas started out in 1994 and had solidified by the end of a heavy year of touring in 1997, which they spent opening for punk and ska bands. The band is made up of four members - vocalist and guitarist Jaret Reddick, guitarist and vocalist Chris Burney, Bassist Erik Chandler and drummer Gary Wiseman. They crossed over into the mainstream slowly and seamlessly, bringing with them their happy, hooky and humorous punk-pop.Their debut EP, Tell Me When To Whoa!, was recorded under local label FFROE. Not too long after that the group released their first full-length album under the amusing title Rock on Honorable Ones!!! which is entertainingly reminiscent of the Keanu Reaves ‘80s film Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. The album attracted the attention of national label executives, most enthusiastic was Jive.In 2000 They released their second album Let's Do It for Johnny, the album was a solid release and showed some influence of fellow punk band Green Day. In 2001 they took their show overseas to England. Their next album Drunk Enough to Dance showed an improvement in their music, and earned them some compliments from Billboard.Their next installment A Hangover You Don't Deserve was a solid release, continuing to please their fans. It did well in the charts, hitting number 37 on the Billboard 200. They came back in 2005 with Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies, tackling movie and television theme songs to create the album. The album was an excellent representation of the humor that characterizes the band. Their 2006 album The Great Burrito Extortion Case showcases Bowling for Soup staying true to their character, and what a group of characters they are! The music continues to be funny, entertaining and light-hearted, full of jokes. Bowling for Soup is definitely the band to go to for a good laugh.
