Few discussions on the rap genre would be complete without the mention of Busta Rhymes. He grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, but moved to Long Island in his teens. He seemed to be destined for a career in music and hooked up with Dico D, Charlie Brown and Cit Monitor Milo in high school to form Leaders of the New School. He started releasing albums with the group, but soon outgrew the foursome and struck out on his own.Soon enough he started working on songs with greats like Notorious B.I.G. and LL Cool J. He released his solo debut, The Coming, in 1996. The album reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number six on the Billboard 200 chart. He followed it up with an even more successful When Disaster Strikes... in 1997, which reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number three on the Billboard 200 chart. Extinction Level Event (The Final World Front) dropped in 1998 and again found success on the charts, but not quite as much as its predecessors.Busta Rhymes came out with another top album in 2000 with Anarchy. The album reached the top of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and fourth on the Billboard 200 chart. The next year, he released a greatest hits album that charted as well as Genesis, which went number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Following that was It Ain't Safe No More in 2003. His 2006 release, The Big Bang, was Busta Rhyme's best album to date, reaching number one on the Top Rap Albums, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard 200 charts. He released another album in 2008 titled Blessed, which features more of the signature Busta Rhymes songs that made him so famous in the first place.
