C-Murder Biography
As the younger brother of rap superstar and mogul Master P., aspiring rap artist Corey Miller had to come up with a stage name that lived up to his family's reputation in the rap world. Miller, whose is also brother to rapper Silkk the Shocker, uncle to Lil' Romeo, and ex-fiancé to R&B singer Monica, chose C-Murder as his stage name. Although reportedly he adopted the name because he "sees murder," C-Murder is one of the talented rap artists signed to Master P's label, No Limit Records.C-Murder got his start as one-third of an impressive, albeit intimidating trio composed of Master P and Silkk the Shocker. They called themselves Tru and released their first album, True, in 1995 and their second, Tru 2 da Game, two years later. Also in 1997, C-Murder made an appearance on other No Limit albums, including Master P's acclaimed Ghetto D and the soundtrack for I'm Bout It, Master P's semi-autobiographical film about growing up in the New Orleans ghetto. C-Murder released his first solo album in 1998, Life or Death, followed by sophomore album Bossalinie in 1999. 2000 was a good year for C-Murder, who made a cameo in the 504 Boyz hit "Wobble Wobble" and released his third album, Trapped in Crime. The album was his most successful to date, featuring hit track "Down for My N's," a triple collaboration between C-Murder, Snoop Dogg and Magic. After the success of his third album, C-Murder left his brother's label and created his own, Tru Records, which was set to launch with an accompanied clothing line. C-Murder's first album under his own label, Tru Dogs, dropped in 2002 but unfortunately he was arrested for involvement in a nightclub shooting by its release date. Despite Master's P's public insistence of his brother's innocence, C-Murder was sentenced to life in prison on October 1, 2003. While behind bars, C-Murder recorded and released 732804 The Truest $#!@ I Ever Said in 2005. The following year the Louisiana Supreme Court dismissed the rapper's conviction and released him from jail. Post-jail C-Murder got back into the rap game; Tru Story-Continued was released in 2006 followed by 2008's Screamin' 4 Vengeance.
