"Cam'ron has always seemed to do things his own way. His real name is Cameron Giles and he was born in Harlem, New York in 1976. It looked for awhile like he might make a career out of basketball, but in the end his love for the rhymes won. He was surrounded by a host of great rap stars and was in the company of hit artists like Mase, Big L and Notorious B.I.G.It would be through this group of rappers that Cam'ron was encouraged to start his own career. He released his first album, Confessions of Fire in 1998, which promptly sold 600,000 copies. Two of his singles off of that album were hits with ""357"" and ""Feels Good"" He found more success with his 2000 album, S.D.E., which made it to number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart. One of his singles from that release, ""What Means the World to You,"" made it to number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.Cam'ron found his first number one hit with his album Come Home With Me, which he released in 2002. The chart-topping hit was called ""Oh Boy"" and the tune made number one on the Hot Rap Tracks as well as charting high on many other charts. Cam'ron turned heads with more than his music in 2004 when he released Purple Haze and also started wearing all pink. The move seemed odd at first but soon caught steam and became a national trend, even for hardcore rappers. After Purple Haze, he released both Killa Season and Shade of Black in 2006. It was followed by Public Enemy #1 in 2007 and Harlem's Finest in 2008."
