Case

Case Biography

There are some R&B songs meant to be played at a club and others which are better for a romantic night in, and the R&B music of Case is definitely the latter. The native New Yorker began his music career singing backup for fellow R&B crooner Usher, among other renowned artists, but branched out solo in the mid-90's when he signed with label Def Jam. Case's eponymous debut was released in 1996, followed by 1999's Personal Conversation, which successfully avoided the sophomore slump with chart-topping hit "Faded Pictures" and subsequent single "Happily Ever After."In his third effort, Case told a story of heartbreak with 2001's Open Letter, featuring piano and acoustic guitar infused ballad "Missing You." Case also reveled in the risqué with Open Letter's more upbeat track "Sex Games." The album highlighted Case's songwriting talents, with each song written with one of his many inspirations in mind, from his daughter ("A Song for Skye") to the legend Stevie Wonder ("Love of my Life" and "Shine"). Open Letter was produced by industry mainstays like Jimmy Tam, Terry Lewis and Tim & Bob.Aside from his solo career, R&B singer Case has contributed tracks to numerous soundtracks, including Nutty Professor II-The Klumps (with "Touch Me Tease Me"), Rush Hour and The Best Man (in which Case collaborated with Tyrese, Ginuwime and RL of Next for the song "Best Man I Can Be"). Case parted ways with label Def Jam and formed Indigo Blue Music Group imprint with his manager, Blue Williams. Case signed a record contract with Skeleton Key Entertainment (subsidiary of Mega Media Group, Inc.) in 2006. The R&B singer's much anticipated impending record, The Rose Experience, is set to debut in 2008 and Case has some big screen appearances in the works as well.

R&B singer Case sure does know how to romance a lady. His R&B career began in the early ‘90s singing backup for R&B heartthrob Usher, but Case's 1996 eponymous solo debut secured his place as one of the key R&B artists to go when needing to turn up the romance. Case was followed by 1999's Personal Conversation and his most successful (and heartfelt) release, 2001's Open Letter. Case's third album features a song for his daughter, "A Song for Skye" and another dedicated to his greatest influence, Stevie Wonder ("Shine") but it is "Happily Ever After" that was perhaps the albums greatest hit."Happily Ever After" peaked at the number three spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and is now available to purchase as your next ringtone off PlayPhone. The song opens with lyrics, "Guess what I did today/Those were the words I said to you/It was last May, don't know the exact day/In my hand there was a ring/And you told me that you loved me/More than anything in your life/ And I asked you would you do me/The honor of being my wife." Case can put anyone in the mood, so don't wait till next Valentine's Day to purchase "Happily Ever After" as your next ringtone.
