Chamillionaire

Chamillionaire Biography

"Rapper Chamillionaire didn't get the nickname ""the Mixtape Messiah"" for nothing. This Houston native already secured a Southern fan base before bursting into the mainstream in 2005. A major label record contract and a few Grammy nods later, this talented lyricist is poised to take over hip-hop.Born Hakeen Sediki, Chamillionaire gained a local cult following after the Southern rapper released a succession of mixtapes that highlighted his knack for lyrics and strong vocal talent. Chamillionaire got his start as part of Swishahouse but soon collaborated with fellow Southern rapper Paul Wall in Paid in Full, which released 2002's Get Ya Mind Correct. The album sold 100,000 copies and prompted the fledgling rapper to found his own label; Chamilitary enlisted Chamillionaire's brother Rasaq and 50/50 Twin as its first projects. Chamillionaire signed with major label Universal and became among the army of Houston rappers (such as Mike Jones, Slum Thug and former Color Changin' Click associate Paul Wall) taking over the mainstream rap game in 2005. Sound of Revenge dropped in November 2005 and snagged the number two spot on both the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard Top Rap Albums as well as the number ten spot on the Billboard 200 chart. After a successful debut album loaded with hit single ""Ridin'"", which earned Chamillionaire a pair of Grammy nominations, the rapper released his sophomore effort, Ultimate Victory in 2007. The album spawned hit single ""Hip Hop Police"" and climbed the Billboard charts to the number three spot on the Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. Despite his almost instantaneous success, Chamillionaire isn't content to rest on his laurels now that he has cashed in on the rap game. Instead he remains as determined as he was before his career took off and continues to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors in addition to musical ones."

The ""Mixtape Messiah"" was placed among the set of political hip-hop stars like Chuck D, as Chamillionaire's debut album The Sound of Revenge climbed the Billboard charts.
