"The Chicago-based trio Chevelle has an aggressive, heavy sound similar to their Helmet inspiration. The group, comprised of brothers Sam (drums), Pet (vocals, guitar), and Joe Loeffler (bass), started playing at local parties and clubs before playing at larger Chicago venues when youngest Joe was just 14.In 1999, Chevelle released their debut album, Point #1, where they collaborated with famous producer Steve Albini. The indie rock album has 11 tracks of sheer melodramatic mumble. The trio began touring with similar acts like Filter, Sevendust Powerman 5000 and Machine Head before creating their second album under their new Epic Records recording contract, Wonder What's Next. The 2002 album went platinum while the single ""Send the Pain Below"" topped the modern rock and mainstream radio hits at number one. At that year's Ozzfest, the group was one of the featured acts. Touring for most of 2003 led the group to release their third album, this time a live concert album, called Live from the Road. Chevelle returned to the recording studio to create their third full-length album, titling it This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In), which came with another hit song, ""Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)."" Replacing Joe with brother-in-law and bassist Dean Bernardini, the group released their fourth album in 2007 with Vena Sera. The album was recorded in the jazzy Palms Studio in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada. The group found distractions around every corner, from the Lamborghini lent to them by casino owner Gavin Maloof to the glitzy slot machines occupied at all hours of the day. The result was the hit single ""The Fad,"" composed by Pete, which describes the consumerism of today's human race. ""The Fad"" reached the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks at 13. Chevelle plans on touring with the 2008 Monster Energy, but no dates as of yet are posted."
