DJ Marky, who started out under the name DJ Marky Mark, was born in Brazil and started out his musical career at a record store. He was first introduced to the sounds of the UK hardcore scene which captured his attention while he was employed at the store. For several years he worked alongside Patife and XRS, until he had made the new sounds he discovered into a driving force in the face of music in Brazil. His touch seemed to be unstoppable, which was proven when he was picked up by English producer Bryan Gee who invited him back to the UK as soon as he heard him play.DJ Marky took the UK music scene by storm, as a newcomer he had to return for an encore performance from occurring. His fresh, Brazilian approach to one of the UK's favorite sounds of the period had given the already popular sound a new push forward. Marky eventually joined forces once again with XRS in 2001 after several of Marky's tracks were picked up by Bryan Gee, and quickly became one of the most popular EPs in the UK at that time.Marky has now played the world over, and created several compilations with producer and engineer XRS, who was a key part of his success that began in Brazil. Whether playing in Ireland, Brazil, the rest of the UK or other parts of the world- Marky seems to have the golden touch when it comes to drum and bass. His music is both respected and enjoyed, and it seems to be unlikely that the music will stop. Marky currently has a residency at The End, one of London's most popular underground stages for dance music over the past 12 years. Marky plays there alongside Layo & Bushwacka!, Laurent Garnier, Andy C, James Holden, Mr. C, and many others.
