"Thanks largely to the heartfelt vocals of frontman Chris Carrabba, Dashboard Confessional ushered in a new wave of emo outfits in the new millennium and continues to satisfy the melancholy musical tastes of teens everywhere.Dashboard Confessional started in Boca Raton, FL by Carrabba, who previously fronted the Vacant Andys and the Agency before forming post-hardcore Christian band Further Seems Forever. Dashboard began as Carrabba's side project while he simultaneously recorded 2000's solo debut, Swiss Army Romance, and Further Seems Forever's full-length debut, which saw the group parting amicably (Jason Gleason would replace Carrabba.) No longer on the back burner, Dashboard Confessional, named after a lyric in ""The Sharp Hint of New Years,"" released their EP The Drowning in 2001, followed by their full-length debut, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, shortly after. The album's single ""Screaming Infidelities"" made its way to modern rock radio and the band toured with the Weakerthans and other groups following its success. In 2002 Dashboard released a companion piece to the So Impossible EP, entitled Summers Kiss, and the same year Carrabba recorded a spot on MTV's Unplugged which was sold on DVD and went platinum. The following year saw Dashboard with a permanent lineup including Scott Schoenbeck (bass), Johnny Lefler (guitar/piano) and Mike Marsh (drums) for the release of A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar. Thanks to popular single ""Hands Vindicated,"" the album soared to the top of the Billboard charts and single ""Vindicated"" was featured in the soundtrack for the 2004 blockbuster Spider-Man 2. 2006's Dusk and Summer resulted in a tour with Ben Lee, Say Anything and Brand New and was followed by 2007's The Shade of Poison Trees. Dashboard's most recent release features Carrabba's trademark heart-on-his-sleeve vocals but showcases a more mature band that has endured the emo fad and secured a permanent spot in the hearts of fans."
