As a teenager, Joshua Brown was not thinking about a choice he made as an elementary student, but it would be that choice that ultimately dictated his entire life. As a youngster, Brown had made a commitment to follow God but had forgotten about that choice by his late teens. When he was 17, he started a band called Full Devil Jacket with friends. The hard-rock band had talent and was soon getting noticed all over the country. They even shared the stage with greats like Stone Temple Pilots, Incubus, Nickelback, Slipknot and Fuel. The lifestyle wreaked havoc on Brown, who soon found himself deeply into drugs. He went to rehab after overdosing and started to turn back to the faith he had found as a child. After leaving rehab, he went back to Full Devil Jacket, but he soon felt a calling toward something else. He left the band and started taking any job he could find to support his family. Music stayed close to Brown, however, and he had soon made ties with Essential Records. He started playing again with friend Gregg Hionis, and the two began what would become Day of Fire. The group released their first, self-titled album in 2004 and added band members Zach Simms on drums, Joe Pangallo on guitar and Chris Pangallo on bass. They released their sophomore album, Cut and Move in 2006. Through the music, Brown has found his voice again, but this time as a voice that reflects peace and faith. He used to write songs for Full Devil Jacket and uses his talent for Day of Fire. Christian rock fans are thankful to have a singer with such talent and have supported Day of Fire in their endeavor to bring a positive message of the gospel through music.
