Dirtie Blonde was the first project that Amie Miriello was signed to when she was starting out in the industry. It was the first band that she and her long-time musical collaborator, Jay Dmuchowski, were a part of. Amie grew up in Stamford, Connecticut where she soon realized that her greatest passion was music. She was writing her own songs by the time she was in the fourth grade, so by the time Amie left school at the age of 17 to pursue her music, she already had a fair amount of experience behind her.Miriello first started pursuing a music career when she was 15, by moving to an arts-driven boarding school in Boston. Miriello and Dmuchowski met when Miriello was 17, and shortly after she moved to New York they had an instant musical chemistry and began writing songs together. The duo began playing at clubs and different gigs around New York, working hard on their music and their skill.Dirtie Blonde was formed when Miriello was seen by producer Billy Man, who introduced her to the production team MachoPsycho, who are most widely recognized for their stellar efforts that have helped bring Jessica Simpson and Pink to where they are today. The duo recorded the first album for Dirtie Blonde in 12 days, and proved to be an excellent debut album. The band was rounded out with the addition of guitarist Sean Kipe, bassist Dean Moore, and drummer Time Perez. Shortly after they set out on tour, opening for Teddy Geiger and INXS. The group lost their original members Amie Miriello and Jay Dmuchowski, who left to carry on as a duo. Miriello's solo contract was eventually picked up by Jive Records.
