"At about the same time that similar male R&B singing groups like Blackstreet and Jagged Edge had just attained established fan bases in the music industry, a slightly more saucy version of the tried and true Boyz II Men archetype bounded onto the stage. Dru Hill, formed in 1995 by a trio of singers from the same Baltimore, Maryland neighborhood (Druid Hill Park), seemed like they were late to the game. Yet they still managed to carry out the genre on into the next millennium. Originally Dru Hill was made up of high school friends Sisqo (Mark Andrews), Nokio (Tamir Ruffin) and Woody (James Green), but they soon added a fourth, Jazz (Jarry Anthony, Jr.) to round out the team.In 1996 Dru Hill caught a huge break when they preformed at the famous Impact '96 convention. Impressed with the group's sound, Island Records signed them to their label and released their first self titled CD. Filled with hit singles like ""Tell Me,"" ""Never Make a Promise,"" ""5 Steps,"" and ""In My Bed,"" Dru Hill landed at No. 23 in the U.S. Billboard 200. The singles from their debut album had similar success on the charts. In 1998 Dru Hill released Enter the Dru, which skipped the introductions and went straight to the sales counter, achieving double platinum status before its tires went wore out. The album peaked at No. 2 in the U.S. Billboard 200, and the single ""How Deep Is Your Love"" reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 singles chart.Sisqo decided to fly the coop to a solo career soon after Enter the Dru. Sisqo's solo effort flashed brightly and not so indiscreetly when he came up with the ""Thong Song,"" the unofficial anthem of the summer of two- tha thao thao 'sand (2000). The silver-topped Sisqo merged back into the Dru Hill lineup in time to make Dru World Order in 2002."
