"Believe it or not, Eagle-Eye Cherry is actually the real name of the singer responsible for the hit song ""Save Tonight."" His avant-garde jazz trumpeter father Don Cherry (music runs in his blood as his sister is alternative rap ground-breaker Neneh Cherry) named him Eagle-Eye because he first time he looked at his father it was with only one eye open. Cherry was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1971 and travelled around with his musician father until they moved to New York when he was 14, where he began studying acting at the New York School of Performing Arts. Cherry also took up drums at this point and dabbled with keyboards and songwriting, although acting was his primary concern. After graduation, Cherry made a living acting in theatre, on television commercials and in several television pilots and also had a guest spot on The Cosby Show. When Eagle-Eye's father passed away in 1995 he moved back to Stockholm with his girlfriend and took up songwriting again, eventually creating some original material in the acoustic singer/songwriter tradition. Cherry recorded his debut album, Desireless, in Sweden and released it via the Diesel label in 1997.The album became a hit in Sweden due to the popularity of singles ""Save Tonight"" and ""Falling in Love Again"" and eventually made its way through Europe. Sony's Work Group division for American distribution picked up Desireless and released the album in the U.S. in 1998 and ""Save Tonight"" skyrocketed on the American charts, peaking in the Top Five. Cherry hit the road to support his debut and when his relationship ended he used his heartbreak as material for his sophomore album, Living in the Present Future, which was released in Europe in 2000. The album was re-titled Present/Future and re-released in the U.S. in 2001 but despite the popularity of the lead single, ""Feels So Right,"" and a duet with sister Nenah on ""Long Way Around"" the album didn't match the success of its predecessor. In 2003 Cherry released his third album, Sub Rosa. "
