Long before his chart topping hits and platinum albums, Eric Church was enthralling restaurant patrons with his personal rendition of "Elvira." He was four years old and had no idea that his voice would reach far beyond the borders of his hometown of Granite Falls, North Carolina. Church started writing songs when he was just 13 years old and eventually started to teach himself to master the guitar. Church recalls that most of his musical interests were handed down from his parents, who enjoyed a diverse collection of music from Motown to bluegrass. Church took his skills, experience and enthusiasm to local clubs, where he, along with other aspiring young musicians, belted out some tunes that would eventually lead him in the direction of a full time career in music. After his graduation from college, Church found himself in Nashville, Tennessee, along with scores of other hopeful musicians, some who would eventually cut a deal with a record company and many others who wouldn't. Church was in the former group, and in 1996 he was presented with a record deal from Capitol Records. His debut album, Sinners Like Me produced three top 20 country hits, an accomplishment that even Church himself couldn't see coming. "How Bout You," "Two Pink Lines" and "Guys Like Me" all gave the fans of country music someone new to talk about in the genre, and Eric Church was no doubt a refreshing addition to the music community.Keeping in step with the demand for new music, Church recently released his single "His Kind of Money (My Kind of Love)," Lyrically and musically, Church can best be defined as the emerging sound of country music. Like the restaurant patrons back when he was four, you will likely be applauding his every move.
