"Columbian artists like Shakira and Juanes have dominated the Latin pop scene over the last few years, bringing fame to the country and inspiring several other Columbian artists to chase that musical dream. One of such upcoming musicians is Fonseca, a Latin tropical king and vocal delight. Fonseca has only recently pierced the Latin music scene, but the talented and very passionate singer has garnered the kind of fame from his two years in the music industry that most musicians wait their entire careers to discover.Juan Fernando Fonseca was born and raised in Bogota, Columbia, expressing an interest in music from the time he was in grade school. Performing onstage at any and every local concert or school festival he could get his hands on, Fonseca started creating and selling his first musical pieces by the age of 12. Singing and songwriting was a path Fonseca never strayed from, and he continued on with his education at Javeriana University in Bogota, where he studied music before furthering his musical knowledge at Boston's prestigious performing arts school the Berklee College of Music, where he studied composition and worked on his performing skills.In 1999, Fonseca released his first project ""Time Bomb,"" opening the world's eyes to the budding musician. A self-titled debut album shortly followed, casting him in the spotlight and gaining the notice of Columbian-based Latin artists Shakira and Juanes, both of whom enlisted Fonseca to collaborate with them on tours and albums. Touring alongside Shakira on her Mongoose tour in 2002 and thereafter working with Juanes at Campin Stadium in Bogota, Fonseca gained the sturdy fan base he was missing before then, continuing to work on his solo releases and finally debuting the album Corazon with EMI in 2006. Since then, Fonseca has earned great respect in the music industry, making the Billboard charts with both Corazon and his most recent release, 2008's Gratitud."
