Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud Biography

"A more modern and completely revamped version of the ‘90s girl power group the Spice Girls, the red-hot British girl quintet Girls Aloud have laid their charm and talent on thick to the world, showcasing their spicy moves and angelic vocals ever since their inception in 2002. Formed from the television show Popstars- The Rivals, Girls Aloud has enjoyed the spotlight ever since day one, not budging to let any other girl group replace them through the years.Girls Aloud elements Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Cheryl Tweedy and Kimberley Walsh met on the set for the U.K. television series Popstar- The Rivals, a musical battle of the sexes that put together the dynamic singing group. Popstar- The Rivals featured ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, producer Pete Waterman and Westlife manager Louis Walsh as judges for the competition, and Davina McCall hosted the show as its main presenter. Narrowing a list of hopefuls down from thousands to 100 to 10 and then five, Girls Aloud finally debuted with Coyle, Harding, Roberts, Tweedy and Walsh, while the show's male counterparts had a similar competition, forming the boy band One True Voice at the same time. Riding the wave of the television show, Girls Aloud immediately debuted on the music scene as number one, continuing on a record-breaking streak of Top Ten singles for ""Biology,"" ""Wake Me Up,"" See the Day,"" ""Whole Lotta History"" and more, bringing the group's career flying through the mid-2000s.In 2006, Girls Aloud released the compilation The Sound of Girls Aloud- The Greatest Hits, after which they holed up for two years before finally releasing the 2007 album Tangled Up, which proved Girls Aloud still had what it took to be pop stars. 2008's Out of Control followed up the '07 release, and the girl group has been promoting the album ever since."
