"Grinspoon has become one of the most prominent punk/grunge/funk bands from Australia. They have attracted thousands of fans because of their rambunctious and aggressive demeanor onstage and have broken well outside the barriers of their home country and have made an impact on fans internationally. The group started when guitarist Pat Davern, bassist Joe Hansen, vocalist Phil Jamieson and drummer Kris Hopes joined together for a jam session in the well-known town of Lismore. They immediately became inspired to form a band together and entered a national competition that sought to find new music. Grinspoon won the competition with the song ""Sickfest.""Shortly after their success, they began touring and recorded a five track CD called Licker Bottle Crazy in July 1996. Some music executives took notice and signed the group to the label MCA. It was the start of a promising career for Grinspoon, and they went on to release their first mainstream album, Guide To Better Living. Their popularity grew once the album reached the number three spot on the national charts and achieved double platinum status. Several hit singles to emerge from the record were ""Black Friday,"" ""More Than You Are"" and ""Pedestrian.""It wasn't long before the bandmates found themselves in the recording studio once again, and in November 1999 they went onto release their second album called Easy. Once again, Easy blew away the critics and roped in more fans for the emerging Australian band. Their style is exceedingly unique, and for their originality they have won the admiration and praise of fans around the world, seeking to find a band that stands apart from the rest of the crowd. The bandmembers of Grinspoon will likely be around in the years to come, so keep an eye out for upcoming releases."
