"Singer/songwriter Howie Day secured a successful career and ambitious touring schedule all before inking a deal with a major label, but soon the labels came a-knocking and the talented Massachusetts native made his way to the modern rock radio waves.Howie Day was born in 1981 in Bangor, ME, where he started playing the piano as child before picking up the guitar at age 14. Day secured his first live show the following year at Canon Nick's, and was touring to promote his independently-released debut by age 17. Day, who cites Radiohead, Dave Matthews and Jeff Buckley among his greatest influences, opened for the likes of the Wallflowers, David Gray, Remy Zero and Shawn Mullins, despite being without a major label contract (and funds). In 2000 Day released the LP Australia on his own Daze label and continued his rampant touring schedule until the folks at Sony snatched him up and re-issued an improved Australia in June 2002.The major label backing worked for Day, whose single ""Ghost"" was a minor radio hit and secured more collegiate fans for the singer. Day released The Madrigals EP in April 2003. Featuring live material and demos, the album ushered in Day's second Sony release in the form of Stop All the World Now that October. Stop All the World Now spawned successful singles ""Perfect Time of Day,"" ""Collide"" and ""She Says,"" and revealed a more mature Day. Live From...EP followed in 2005. Personal problems plagued Day in recent years; he entered rehab in 2007, where he met fallen pop star Britney Spears and engaged in a brief media-fueled romance. The official Howie Day MySpace page posted ""Everyone Loves to Love Me"" in 2008 and the singer, who is now signed with Epic Records, is set to release a yet-to-be-titled third album at an undisclosed date."
