Jason Michael Carroll Biography
If he's got three names, chances are he's a country singer. In Jason Michael Carroll's case, this is not just absolutely true but quite the understatement. Carroll, the seemingly young long-haired hippie-looking blonde, can deceive any crowd once he starts belting out his heartfelt country lyrics in a surprisingly deep, powerful baritone voice, and has been wowing contemporary country music fans since 2006.Carroll, a North Carolina native, grew up the son of a preacher with strict rules against listening to secular music. The talented young artist's first experiences with music, then, came gushing in when he started working at a motor shop after high school. The experience liberated him, and Carroll ended up delving into the music business after winning a karaoke contest through a local radio station. A short stint with the band Chasin' Country left Carroll at a crossroads, but he ultimately decided to further pursue his musical aspirations. Opening himself up to any kind of exposure, Carroll went on a streak of auditions, ultimately finding producer Don Gehman, who helped him land a deal with Arista Nashville in 2006. Ever since then, Carroll has continued to gain the kind of exposure he could have only dreamed about back in North Carolina.Carroll's debut album, Waitin' in the Country, was released in 2007. The release automatically landed at number one on the Top Country Albums chart, and three standout singles from the album, "Alyssa Lies," "Livin' Our Love Song" and "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead," also made the charts. Another highlight off the album (and in Carroll's career) is his developing professional relationship with pop folk-turned-country singer Jewel, who collaborated on "No Good in Goodbye," another hit song off Carroll's debut album. With so much success in one initial release, Carroll's sophomore album is more than much-anticipated.
