"Jerry Rivera hit his stride in the 1990s as he became one of the top salsero artists of the time. Unlike other artists, he has not faded since his rise to stardom and he has continued to put out new material frequently. He was born Geraldo Rivera Rodriguez in Humacao, Puerto Rico on July 31, 1973 and oved to Levittown, where he spent most of his childhood. He comes from a musical family that includes his singer father, Edwin ""Pino"" Rivera. It was his father who first helped Rivera make a demo tape when he was 14 years old.Not long after, Rivera released his first solo album, Abriendo Puertas, in 1990. The album started gaining fame and paved the way for his second release, Cuenta Conmigo, which dropped in 1992 and became a top-selling salsa record. He didn't stop his breakneck pace and released Empexando a Vivir and Cara de Niro in 1993. From 1994 to 2003, Rivera released at least one record per year except for 1999. Many of his albums reached into the top 10 of the Top Latin Albums chart like Nuebo y lo Mejor, which reached number six, the fifth-placed Magia, number seven De Otra Manera, number six Rivera and number eight Vuela Muy Alto. He has also tried his hand at acting and was in movie I Like It Like That with Jon Seda and Rita Moreno. Rivera has stayed busy musically as well. His 2008 release, Amores Como el Nuestro Los Exitos, reached number 32 on the Top Latin Albums chart. His fans have stayed true to him both because of his soothing voice and his charming good looks. He is sure to stay on the music scene for quite some time, bringing the great sounds of salsa music to the masses."
