"St. Louis is the mecca for aspiring Midwest rappers (put on the map by ‘90s phenomenon Nelly) and STL-raised rap guru Jibbs drank enough of the city's magical rap water to secure himself a spot among the Lou's hottest hip-hop acts. Jibbs has popularized himself with the hit single ""Chain Hang Low,"" but the fledgling rapper has just gotten started in his musical career.Jovan Campbell, the artist also known as Jibbs, was born into to a musical family, and his immediate liking to rap music served as an escape from a dead-end life in the ghetto. Jibbs initially took up rapping in his adolescence to impress his older brother DJ Beats, a St. Louis producer for artists like Nelly and Chingy. DJ Beats eventually put his brother in the recording studio, raising Jibbs' street cred as an up-and-coming rap star. Word of mouth of this child prodigy started to spread, and Jibbs was courted by Chris Brown, Bow Wow and Young Jeezy to perform opening acts on their tours in St. Louis. Soon after Jibbs started collaborating with these rap heavyweights, the smooth rapper (and competitive boxer) signed a recording contract with IGA's Geffen Records.Beginning a booming career with Geffen, Jibbs released his debut single ""Chain Hang Low,"" an adult remake and parody of the children's classic ""Do Your Ears Hang Low,"" in 2006. The bumping sing-along song catapulted Jibbs into superstar territory, as the single became the most popular rap download on iTunes in '06 for the month of August. ""Chain Hang Low"" also reached number six on the Hot Rap Tracks chart, as well as number seven on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Digital Songs charts, turning the single's album Jibbs Feat. Jibbs into a Top 10 R&B hit on the charts, as well."
