"Known for his theatrical voice, Josh Groban has made a hit out of almost every song performed, recorded, covered as a solo or duet. His voice alone has turned out four platinum albums including two quadruple platinum albums, including his self titled debut (2001) and Noel (2007), a multi-platinum album Closer (2003), and a double-platinum album Awake (2006). While his career is still considered to be young, Josh Groban has no doubt established himself as a vocalist amongst the all-time greatest.Classifying Josh Groban's voice is as difficult to do as it is to determine what his religious upbringing might have been-- no surprise for anyone born in Los Angeles. In February of 1981, he was born of a Jewish- American father who converted to Christianity upon marriage, and was raised as an Anglo-Episcopalian. From an early age, Groban had developed a passion for theater and music, though it had to be put aside temporarily to pursue his educational career. Attending Bridges Academy, he would have class from 9am to 1pm, followed by theater class. It was from there, that he began his musical career. In 1997 and 1998, Groban majored in musical theater at an art camp, and at the same time began taking outside music lessons. Shortly thereafter, he was introduced by his musical coach to Grammy winning producer/arranger David Foster. After graduating college, he was offered a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records. Foster had earlier noted Groban's natural affinity in the pop and rock genre, but was more interested in his sense of classics. His debut album reflects that classical tone, as heard in ""To Where You Are"" and ""Gira Con Me."" However, in his second album, Closer, Groban was able to introduce his listeners to what he says is ""closer to who I really am"" with songs like ""Remember When it Rained.""Josh Groban's musical career has never seen a dull moment. He has not only been a successful recording artist, but has also made appearances throughout the music industry, each one falling nothing short of phenomenal. Some of his appearances include The Oprah Winfrey Show, 2004 American Music Awards, Super Bowl XXXVIII, Jay Leno, and 2008 Grammy awards in a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti."
