"Josh Turner is a country music artist who burst onto the scene in the early 2000s with a hit single titled ""Long Black Train."" Known for his deep voice, handsome face and Christian-themed songs, Josh Turner's rise to country superstardom is still on an upward trajectory, and it won't be long before he's recognized as one of the genre's most important artists.Born and raised in South Carolina, Josh Turner has been a country boy his whole life. His family was active within his local church, and indeed, it was with the church choir that the young Josh Turner got his first taste of musical performance. While in high school and college Josh Turner took vocal lessons and studied the guitar. One night while studying late at Belmont University's library, Josh Turner came across some old Hank Williams recordings. After listening intently to the records on into the wee hours of the morning and becoming very moved by the music, Josh Turner had a religious vision of a huge, shiny black train that was unloading and loading passengers. This metaphor, which Josh Turner interpreted to symbolize temptation, would become the inspiration for ""Long Black Train."" Turner wrote the song in one sitting when he returned to his room, and in 2001 he aired the song for the first time on a radio broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry.In 2003, after having released a couple of vinyl singles, Turner issued his first full-length album, Long Black Train, which was driven up the U.S. Country Albums chart by the title track's immense popularity. Josh Turner received plenty of attention on the national stage after Long Black Train, including a nomination for a CMA award for Song of the Year. In 2006 Josh Turner released Your Man, which fared even better than Long Black Train in both the record stores and the charts. Your Man locked in a No. 1 position on the Country Albums charts and eventually went double platinum."
