"Kate Voegele is the youngest artist to ever win the Pop category of the USA Songwriting Contest, an award which she earned in 2005 for the song ""Only Fooling Myself."" Voegele grew up with a very musical father, who convinced her to start letting him record her work when she was still a teenager. One of the demos that her father created found its way into the hands of a Warner Brothers representative, and she had soon caught the attention of Madonna's imprint, Maveric Records, on the WB label. She recorded her first 5 song EP in 2003, titling it The Other Side, which she completed with the help of producer Michael Seifert.Kate Voegele was also the first artist to sign with the MySpace label, giving her a place as one of the innovators of the industry. Her introduction to MySpace's Tom Anderson launched a business collaboration that has benefited both parties and Voegele's fans. The star who had opened for Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, John Mayer and other famous stars starting at the age of just 16, has now become a full-fledged artist with a reputation as someone who is going to go far in the industry. Her first full-length album Don't Look Away peaked at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and number seven on Top Independent Albums. The May 2007 release also spawned three chart singles, including a re-recorded version of her first award winning song ""Only Fooling Myself."" Also in the charts were ""Kindly Unspoken"" and ""Wish You Were.Vogele, who grew up in Bay Village, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, and first began singing at age ten when she joined the church choir. She picked up the guitar when she was in high school, inspired to create music by her father and a teen age breakup. Her music is now circulating world-wide, and there seems to be nothing stopping this avid artist from rising to the top."
