Kenny G Biography

Kenny G is his name, saxophone is his game. Renowned for his smooth jazz compilations and curly locks, Kenny G is the best known instrumentalist of the time. Since signing with Arista Records in 1982, Kenny G has created over 30 albums, sold over 75 million albums worldwide, and holds a Grammy for his "Forever in Love."In the over two decades that he has been in the business, this Seattle native graduated from the University of Washington and played professionally with Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra and Jeff Lorber Fusion before going solo. As the most well known instrumentalist in the world, Kenny G got his first breakthrough with the album Duotones, which he performed during Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show in 1988. Arguing with staff about which song to play, at the last minute Kenny G, born Kenny Gorelick, proved that added vocalists weren't necessary to make his work successful.This smooth jazz musician immediately recorded his first self-titled album, following up with G-Force, Gravity and Silhouette. The multi-platinum artist found success with his fifth record Breathless, which became the biggest selling instrumental album of all time, selling over 12 million copies in the U.S. alone. His first holiday album, Miracles, topped the Billboard 200 chart at number one, and remains the best selling holiday album of all time. In 2002, Kenny G began experimenting with more soulful sounds, working with the islands for his record Paradise, which included the top adult contemporary track "All the Way," featuring Brian McKnight. In 2004 he released At Last...The Duets Album, where artists throughout the years (Barbara Streisand, LeAnn Rimes) all appeared alongside Kenny G's melodic tones.Proving that his talents not only lie behind his soprano sax, Kenny G was named the best golfer in music by Golf Digest in 2006. His most recent album, Rhythm and Romance combines his interest with Latin music with his poignant beats.
