"Treacherous Three member Kool Moe Dee was a prominent 1970s MC that found fame with a solo career almost two decades after his hip hop crew disbanded.Mohandas Dewese was born in 1963 in Harlem New York. As a young street wise rapper, Moe Dee started performing with friends L.A. Sunshine, Special K and DJ Easy Lee at local parties. The four eventually became known as the Treacherous Three and created a wax in 1980 with the help of producer Bobby Robinson. ""The New Rap Language"" appeared on Robinson's Enjoy records, as the boys of Treacherous Three continued to work on most material throughout the ‘80s. Several more singles debuted before Robinson sold the contract to Sugar Hill Records and the group broke up.Unlike other hip hop stars who continued to pursue hip hop after only an inkling of fame, Kool Moe Dee enrolled at SUNY college and eventually earned a communications degree. When he returned to the music business in the ‘80s, Kool Moe Dee enlisted the teenage Teddy Riley, an unknown producer, to create his solo album. The single ""Go See the Doctor"" became an instant success as it reached underground audiences at a rapid speed and before long Kool Moe Dee was signed to the major label Jive. With Jive records, Kool Moe Dee recorded 1987's How Ya Like Me Now, an album cover that featured Moe Dee's rival's trademark symbol (LL Cool J's red hat) crumbled by the teeth of a Jeep. The album reached a younger audience and eventually went platinum. 1989 saw Knowledge is King where Kool Moe Dee continued to gain attention not only for his feud with LL Cool J but also for his unique sound, which he debuted at the Grammy Award ceremonies, the first rapper to do so.But by Kool Moe Dee's fourth album, the world knew there was little left in this Harlem rapper for new material. Jive/RCA dropped him after his Greatest Hits package appeared in '93."
