"Much like their name suggests, the music of the Kottonmouth Kings is a fusion of funk, reggae, metal, ska and punk boasting lyrics about smoking (no, not cigarettes) and getting drunk. The Kottonmouth Kings emerged out of the sunny-skied suburbia that is Orange County, CA in 1994 with their self-described ""psychedelic hip-hop punk rock"" music. Comprised of former Humble Gods frontman Brad Daddy X, rappers Saint Vicious and D-Loc, DJ Bobby B and ""visual assassin"" Pakelika, the Kottonmouth Kings got their big break when their single ""Suburban Life"" was features on the Scream 2 soundtrack and subsequently became a modern rock radio hit.In 1998, the Kings released the Stoners Reeking Havoc EP on their own Suburban Noize label and followed with the LP Royal Highness (are you sensing a theme here?) on Capitol Records later that year. The stoner-themed albums continued with Hidden Stash in 1999 and High Society in 2000, the record that placed the Kottonmouth Kings firmly in the mainstream music scene. In 2001, the Kings scored gigs with Eminem's group D12 and Bionic Jive and Hidden Stash, Vol. 2-Kream of the Krop followed soon after. The Kottonmouth Kings' Brad Daddy X produced the group's fifth studio album, Rollin' Stoned, which was issued in 2002 and the following year Classic Hits Live was released. Despite what their album titles might suggest, the Kings stayed busy when not releasing albums by working on expanding their Suburban Noize empire with DVDs and CDs by punk groups and rappers. The Kottonmouth King's celebrated the official stoner's holiday, 4/20, by releasing Fire It Up on that day in 2004 and one year later issued their seventh album, an eponymous effort which featured cameos from Cypress Hill and Tech Nine. D-Loc suffered a foot injury that forced the Kings to postpone their tour that summer, but they returned with their eighth effort, Koast II Koast in 2006 and the compilation Hidden Stash III and album of new material, Cloud Nine, followed in 2007. 2008's The Green Album is the Kottonmouth Kings' latest release."
