"Canadian rhythm and blues singer Kreesha Turner was born to a Canadian father and Jamaican mother. Raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Turner was instantly attracted to dance and jazz melodies, dancing along with her two siblings to Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Billie Holiday. It wasn't until she found the African music of Erykah Badu as well as the hip hop group A Tribe Call Quest that Turner knew music was more than something she enjoyed listening to. Sent to Jamaica at 15, she began singing at a Pentecostal church where she developed her talents along with her musical influences, listening in to her Jamaican heritage and jazz inspirations. When she returned to Canada a year later, she succumbed to peer pressure and sang Canada's nation anthem only to earn a spot into a choir at the Faith Temple Tabernacle.In 2005 she won an Edmonton radio station talent contest, earning her a professional recording session for four tracks. One of her singles recorded with The Bounce (91.7 FM), ""Bounce with Me,"" caught the attention of urban and R&B music manager Chris Smith, who has worked with Nelly Furtado and Tamia, and allowed Turner to begin a career in the mainstream market.Auditioning in front of Virgin Record execs, Turner signed a recording contract with Capitol Music Group and has since started recording more material along with perfecting her original work. Her first single, ""Bounce With Me,"" first appeared in 2006 on Vancouver AC stations before her iTunes single ""Simple"" appeared in 2007. More of her singles made headlines in Canada and the United States thanks to iTunes, while her debut album, Passion, was released in 2008 in Canada. Since, she has heard her music during Ashton Kutcher's Nikon commercials and television shows like Gossip Girl, Entourage, The Hills, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and many more."
