"Kris Kross was the collaboration of teenage rappers Chris ""Daddy Mack"" Smith and Chris ""Mack Daddy"" Kelly who became instant pop sensations in 1992 with their carefree and rambunctious attitudes and lyrics. These boys proved to the industry that they really knew how to rap out the best beats with hot songs like ""Jump"" and ""Warm It Up."" They were a sensation among teen listeners who grabbed onto their style and were soon mimicking it on the streets. Kris Kross was the hottest rap team around during the early 1990s, and with their particular brand of pop-infused rap, they were able to reach millions of fans around the world.Chris Smith and Chris Kelly were actually discovered at an Atlanta mall by none other than producer Jermaine Dupri. Dupri, who was still a teenager himself, took the young rappers under his wing and helped to invent their ""backwards"" style, which in turn earned them their moniker, Kris Kross. The duo burst out into the industry with their hit single ""Jump,"" which became one of the fastest selling singles in years and spent a cool eight weeks on the Billboard charts. This helped to boost the already-blossoming sales of their debut album, Totally Krossed Out. After their initial success, the boys took the road and appeared alongside the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, at various locations throughout Europe.Unfortunately, Kris Kross big draw seemed to be because of their young age. In 1993, when the two hit puberty, their voices and ultimately the sound and the style of their music changed. With their deepening voices, they tried to adopt a more fierce and tougher attitude in the recording studio with their album Da Bomb. Although their single ""Alright"" was able to achieve gold status on the charts, Kris Kross could not convince fans of their new look and sound. They had a few more successes in the later part of the 1990s, but ultimately they faded on the music scene, with fans' memories still glued to the goofy backwards boys of rap."
